The Artist is Present

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY3VwmiT3j4?rel=0]HBO is currently airing the documentary "Marina Abramovic The Artist is Present" about Abramovic's 2010 MoMA retrospective. I've watched many clips from this performance piece, inspired by how powerful it can be to sit for a minute in silence in front of another person. It's a small moment, but when you see her committed to it for 90 days, 6 days a week, 7.5 hours a day, you feel the weight. The clip below is one of my favorites.

*update* I just came across a beautiful collection of photos from the exhibition shot by  Marco Anelli. These images have been compiled into a tumblr aptly called "Marina Abramovic Made Me Cry", one of the best tumblr names ever. It's so interesting to scroll through and see both the emotion and time stamp from each photo.
