Growing

Growing Jewelry is designed and handmade in Austin, Texas by Christy Curcuru.  After studying painting and sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design, Christy's venture into jewelry began as a playful study of materials. Last weekend, Growing held a trunk show at Kick Pleat, one of my favorite clothing shops here in Austin.

I really enjoy Christy's mix of neutrals and neon. I have been fighting my neon tendencies for a while, so this is a nice way to let it fly free with a statement necklace that's one of a kind, literally. No two necklaces are alike, which takes some serious hutzpah as a maker. Looking at Growing's work all together, you can see the variations and element of play in her work, which I really relate to with my leather tooling.

On a side note, I've been so pleasantly surprised this last month at meeting many local makers who's work both surprises and delights. Thanks to the blog, I've had folks reaching out to me, which is such a lovely gift. If you're interested in being featured, contact us at info (at) toolandtack.com.
