A few favorites

As I've gotten older, the world has gotten smaller in many respects. I find that once I meet someone interesting, they inevitable have interesting friends and circles start to collide into complicated Venn diagrams*. There's lots of overlap in the world of makers, publishers, designers, photographers, and folks that "make life beautiful."

This afternoon, I was catching up with one of my favorite men's sites, Grain & Gram, and discovered a gem of a feature on Jason Gregory of Makr Carry Goods. The interview by Aaron Martin and Danny Jones is extremely thoughtful and well written, providing a lot of insight into the start of Makr and how they have evolved. Personally, Jason Gregory has been a huge inspiration for my line, Canoe, so to get a peek inside their studio may have elicited a few whispered "wowzas" while reading.

*One day I am going to sit down and draw out my personal Venn diagram for every creative person I am lucky enough to know. In the case of Grain & Gram, I first discovered them based on a brief mention on Rifle Paper's blog, where Anna Bond shared that her printer, Nick Sambrato, was featured on G&G. I read the article, immediately fell in love with G&G, shared it with with all my guy friends, and several months later hired Nick to print a project for me.

I've learned that when something strikes a chord with you, it's a good idea to let folks know, so I emailed G&G to gush about how great I thought they are. After a few emails back and forth, they very kindly came out to Austin to interview my husband, Ben, of Salt & Time. The world is very small, indeed.
