A place we escape to
Marfa is a quaint, magical town in west Texas. Surrounded by plains for miles with a large sky to compliment them, it’s hard to not want to pack up and move there. On a visit with friends, we were charmed by El Cosmico, a hotel of beautiful vintage trailers, yurts, and even a teepee, which we were fortunate enough to call home for a few days.
The town has an interesting character to it as it’s occupied by multiple art galleries, as well as border patrol. But the people of Marfa are full of warmth and before you leave you’ve made friends with the whole town. I had a few personal favorite places that were enough to make me plan another visit before I had even left.
On the main road you’ll locate Marfa Book Co., which is a magnificent little bookstore with an art gallery attached. Around the corner from there is Padre’s, a tiny bar with delicious burgers, an adorable décor and atmosphere, with amazing musicians on the weekends. But of course I can’t forget Frama, the coffee shop attached to the Laundromat with scrabble pieces perched on shelves to create a menu.
If you’ve never ventured out to west Texas, you’ll be lured in after you hear everything Marfa has stowed for you.
